As an EMEA Lending Legal - Corporate Lending - Vice‑President in the Legal Lending department you will be responsible primarily for documenting, reviewing and advising on general corporate lending matters (both large and mid‑cap) but will also gain experience of other bilateral and syndicated lending transactions including investment grade, emerging markets, direct lending, leveraged and acquisition finance, structured lending as well as restructurings and distressed debt transactions. You will be based in London but will work closely with business teams, risk and control areas and Legal colleagues globally.
Responsibilities
- Pro‑actively support business groups across EMEA (particularly French corporate lending) and other offices worldwide by structuring and advising on transactions, reviewing and negotiating legal documents from origination to completion, and providing guidance on risk assessment and solutions.
- Liaise with business teams, control areas and Legal to set/maintain documentation standards, internal policies, practice guidelines, and monitor legal, regulatory, and documentation developments.
- Pro‑actively share experience and know‑how with Legal colleagues worldwide, where appropriate.
- Provide training to the business, other control functions, and within Legal.
- Participate in Legal and firm‑wide projects.
- Familiarity with LMA‑based lending documentation, drafting contracts, reviewing contract documentation, and providing summary presentations and abstracts.
- Demonstrate strong work ethic, high‑level organisational skills, and ability to work independently, managing a large volume of transactions and internal client questions simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal, analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills; be detail‑oriented and results‑driven.
- Adaptability to apply existing skills to unfamiliar subject matter areas.
- Apply minimum of 4 years lending experience at a leading law firm or in‑house legal team at an investment bank.
- Be a lawyer licensed to practice law and a member in good standing in the jurisdiction where the position is based, or otherwise in compliance with the in‑house counsel registration rules of that jurisdiction.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities
- Foreign languages – French language skills will be an advantage.
