Job summary

Morgan McKinley is seeking a researcher to analyze labour market trends and respond to media requests using large data sets. You will collaborate with economists, data scientists, editorial, PR, and marketing teams to produce insights for public release and research publications.

The role emphasizes strong English communication, cloud data handling, and independent as well as collaborative work across multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in economics, data science, or related field.
• 2–4 years in economic research or data science; or master with 1–2 years; or PhD without experience.
• Strong understanding of labour economics and statistics.
• Experience with big data in cloud environments; proficiency in R for analysis/visualization.

Responsibilities

• Respond quickly to inbound media requests relating to trends in proprietary data.
• Collaborate with economists and data scientists on research projects.
• Apply established methodologies when investigating labour market trends and help develop new approaches.
• Analyse large datasets using R and cloud computing tools.
• Create graphs and tables using ggplot2.
• Write up research findings for media and publications.
• Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of experience in an economic research or data science role; or a master’s degree with 1-2 years of experience; or PhD without experience.
• A solid understanding of labour economics and statistics.
• Experience working with big data in cloud environments.
• Mastery of R or similar data analysis and visualisation tools.
• Ability to work autonomously and with others, whilst juggling several priorities at once.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
