About the role


  • The EMEA Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing all accounting and statutory compliance activities for SmartWitness EMEA, SmartWitness BG & NL. Also function as a support role for UAB Global (Lithuania) as needed. This role plays a critical part in the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with both US GAAP and local statutory requirements. The individual will also supervise the Accounts Payable Specialist based in Northern Ireland and provide operational accounting support as needed.

  • This role requires the successful candidate to work from the Belfast office. Hybrid working will be available where work requirement allow. Remote or fully remote arrangements are not available for this position.

What you'll do

Month-End Close & Reporting


  • Lead and support the month-end close for EMEA, including preparation of monthly reconciliations, transfer pricing journal entries, and supporting schedules.

  • Ensure all intercompany and transfer pricing transactions are recorded accurately in collaboration with the Corporate Controller.

  • Maintain adherence to US GAAP standards and support audit requests as needed.


Statutory Compliance & Audit


  • Manage all HMRC-related filings and statutory requirements for the UK entity.

  • Manage and support related filings and statutory requirement for Bulgaria, Netherlands entities as needed.

  • Coordinate annual statutory audits, acting as the primary point of contact with external auditors and regulatory bodies.


Accounts Payable Oversight


  • Supervise and provide day-to-day guidance to the Global Accounts Payable Specialist located in Northern Ireland, who processes AP for the entire organization.

  • Provide hands-on AP backup coverage during absences or when volume requires additional support.


Operational & Cross-Functional Support


  • Work closely with US leadership and the Corporate Controller to ensure alignment of accounting processes across jurisdictions.

  • Drive process improvements, documentation, and compliance within a private equity-backed, fast-paced environment.


Qualifications

Essential Criteria


  • 3+ year of experience as an Accounting Manager.

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • Strong accounting background with demonstrated month-end close ownership and balance sheet reconciliation experience.

  • Solid understanding of US GAAP and prior exposure to US audit standards.

  • Experience with HMRC and European statutory filings, UK, EMEA statutory audits, and related compliance.

  • Prior transfer pricing entry preparation and intercompany accounting exposure.

  • Proven ability to supervise and mentor staff in a distributed team environment.

  • Ability to work independently against tight timelines and adapt in a rapidly evolving, private-equity environment.

  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Experience working in an international or multi-entity environment.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with US headquarters.

  • Fast learner, self-starter, and comfortable managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
