Job summary

Leonardo UK Ltd in Yeovil, Somerset, is seeking an EMC Engineer (E3) to join the Helicopter Division. You will work on EMC/ E3 testing, bid support, and qualification activities for aircraft systems, contributing to compliance with DO-160 and other airworthiness standards.

  • Experience in EMC engineering within aerospace or avionics is preferred.
  • Familiarity with airworthiness regulations and qualification processes.

  • Evaluate modifications for electromagnetic environmental effects and advise multidisciplinary teams.
  • Undertake helicopter testing/ analyses and document results.
  • Implement design mitigation at platform level.
  • Produce documentation to demonstrate compliance with civil/military requirements.

Job description

Job Description: Can you apply your EMC knowledge to Helicopters? We are looking to recruit our next EMC/ Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Engineer to join our team within the Helicopter Division based in Yeovil, Somerset. There is opportunity to work at varying levels of seniority and complexity, dependent on your experience.

What you’ll do as EMC Engineer:
  • Support bid activities for future contracts.
  • Identify equipment qualification requirements and agree vendor equipment design and qualification strategies including test/analysis/ similarity documents.
  • Prepare aircraft test documentation and conduct E3 testing (HIRF, Mutual Compatibility and TEMPEST, HERO/ HERP) on aircraft as directed.
  • Review and manage vendor qualification activities according to EMC aerospace standards (DO-160, DEF STAN 59-411)
  • Evaluate modifications of varying complexity with respect to electromagnetic environmental effects and provide Subject Matter Expert input to multidisciplinary teams throughout the design/development activity
  • Undertake Helicopter testing/ analyses including generation of required documentation
  • Analyse and implement design mitigation measures at platform level
  • Produce documentation to support demonstration of compliance with civil/military requirements

Due to the nature of the work this role does require on-site presence for a minimum of 2-3 days per week.

What you’ll bring
  • First/ Second Degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Avionics, Electronics, Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, RF & Microwave) or HNC/HND/BTEC with experience
  • Previous knowledge and experience of working in the electromagnetics discipline and ideally aerospace
  • Have knowledge and understanding of the relevant airworthiness regulations
  • Knowledge and experience in the design, development, integration and qualification of aircraft electrical and avionic systems, including: Electrical design Electrical Generation and Distribution Systems Electrical Installation Lighting systems Electromagnetic Compatibility Air Vehicle systems Avionic system
  • This is not an exhaustive list, and we are keen to hear from you even if you might not have experience in all the above.
  • The most important skill is a good attitude and willingness to learn.
