Job summary

Niantic Spatial's London-based R&D team is seeking a Research Scientist to push the frontiers of Spatial AI. You will invent and develop algorithms at the cross‑section of computer vision, machine learning, graphics and robotics, advancing our Large Geospatial Model as a dedicated member of the Embodied AI group.

We value scientists who want to learn, publish, teach, and deploy every new invention. This role is London-based with three days in the office, and offers a competitive base salary,

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent with publication record in top venues.
• Experience in sim-to-real transfer, domain randomization, policy evaluation, and simulation-based learning.
• 3D scene representations: Gaussian splatting, neural fields, meshes, point clouds, or implicit representations.
• Applied generative/ diffusion models to 3D data (scene completion, inpainting, relighting, novel view synthesis).
• Experience with 3D semantics, open-vocabulary scene understanding, or scene graphs.
• Proficiency in Python and PyTorch.

Responsibilities

• Develop new spatial representations for embodied AI.
• Advance real-to-sim pipelines (observations, 3D reconstruction, simulation, policy learning).
• Solve emerging spatial problems (3D vision, model efficiency, interactive systems).
• Take capabilities through to evidence for policy changes, not just reconstruction.
• Build proof-of-concept prototypes, some scalable to production on customer data.
• Collaborate with researchers, engineers and product partners to bring models to production.
• Publish and present your work.
