You'll be part of a multidisciplinary engineering team developing innovative products from concept through to production, working alongside experts in RF, FPGA, hardware and systems engineering.

What You\'ll Be Doing

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you\'ll design, develop and debug embedded software for real-world RF applications, working on both bare-metal and RTOS-based systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing embedded software in C/C++ for ARM-based microcontrollers.
  • Designing software for bare-metal and real-time operating systems, including FreeRTOS and Zephyr.
  • Bringing up new hardware and debugging prototype boards using oscilloscopes, logic analysers and software debugging tools.
  • Developing robust communications between embedded devices using interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, SPI, I²C, UART and RS422.
  • Designing networking functionality including TCP/IP, REST APIs, SNMP and OpenAPI interfaces.
  • Working closely with hardware, FPGA and systems engineers to integrate software with complex electronic systems.
  • Investigating and resolving software, networking and embedded system issues.
  • Contributing throughout the full product development lifecycle from concept through to manufacture.

We\'re interested in talented engineers who enjoy solving challenging technical problems and developing reliable embedded software.

You\'ll ideally have:

  • Strong commercial experience developing embedded software in C/C++.
  • Experience working with bare-metal systems and/or real-time operating systems.
  • Experience developing software for ARM Cortex-based microcontrollers.
  • Practical experience bringing up prototype hardware.
  • Knowledge of embedded communication protocols including Ethernet, CAN, SPI, I²C and UART.
  • Excellent debugging skills using both hardware and software tools.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent commercial experience.

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

  • Zephyr RTOS or FreeRTOS
  • STM32 microcontrollers
  • Embedded networking and TCP/IP
  • Secure bootloaders and firmware update mechanisms
  • Python
  • MISRA C/C++
  • RF or microwave systems
  • Defence, aerospace or space applications

We offer:

  • Exciting projects in Space, Defence, Aerospace and Telecommunications.
  • The opportunity to work with leading engineers across multiple disciplines.
  • Modern development tools and well-established engineering processes.
  • Genuine opportunities for career development and progression.
  • A collaborative, supportive engineering culture.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
