Job summary

SoCode Recruitment in Cambridge is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join a consultancy. You will work on diverse projects turning complex engineering challenges into practical, high-quality technologies that benefit patients and clinicians.

You will develop robust software for devices and systems, engage with clients, and take ownership of your contributions using C/C++, Python, and RTOS/bare-metal practices. A CS or Electronic Engineering degree with 2–5 years in industry is preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• 2–5 years of commercial software development experience.
• Experience with C and/or C++ in commercial projects.
• Working knowledge of Python for scripting and tooling.
• Embedded software development with RTOS or bare-metal.
• Hardware interfacing, electronics bring-up and system testing.

No two projects are the same. You'll develop robust, maintainable software, contribute to technical design decisions and work closely with clients and colleagues to deliver solutions.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Engaging directly with clients, communicating technical information clearly to both engineering specialists and non-technical stakeholders.
• Taking ownership of your work, managing priorities and contributing to the successful delivery of projects.

What They're Looking For:

• You'll ideally have a degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or a related engineering discipline, alongside 2–5 years of commercial software development experience.
• Commercial software development experience inC and/or C++; experience with both is advantageous.
• Working knowledge of Python for scripting, tooling and test automation.
• Embedded software development, including RTOS or bare-metal programming.
• Hardware interfacing, electronics bring-up and system testing.
