Job summary

Pearson is embedding a Security Engineering Lead within the BU technology organisation to drive measurable security improvements across services. You will work with engineering teams to implement secure-by-design practices, leverage data to prioritise actions and ensure risk is mitigated at scale.

The role focuses on engineering-led security outcomes, collaboration with GRC and Architecture, and advancing vulnerability, IAM/PAM, cloud security controls to reduce risk and improve resilience

Qualifications

• Significant experience in technology, engineering, cybersecurity or a closely related discipline.
• Strong understanding of practical cybersecurity controls and technology risk.
• Demonstrable experience working directly with technology and engineering teams.
• Ability to translate security standards into practical technical outcomes.
• Strong analytical and data-driven problem-solving skills.
• Experience improving measurable operational or technology outcomes.
• Ability to understand complex technical environments and identify root causes.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Ability to challenge constructively and handle ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Own improvement in BU security outcomes.
• Achieve agreed security objectives, targets and metrics for the BU/function.
• Understand BU's current security performance and key risk areas.
• Use data trends to identify priorities and improvement opportunities.
• Develop and execute plans to improve security performance and reduce risk.
• Identify systemic issues and drive sustainable improvements.
• Drive remediation of security risk across multiple domains.
• Embed security into technology delivery and planning.
• Provide evidence of security performance to governance forums.
