Job summary

Free-Work in Leeds is seeking an Electronics and Firmware Engineer to join a specialist engineering business delivering bespoke solutions across the full product lifecycle. You will design analogue and digital circuits, capture schematics, layout PCBs, and develop embedded C firmware for microcontroller-based systems, with opportunities for international travel.

The role involves testing, fault finding, commissioning, and ongoing product support in a fast‑paced environment, with 5 days on‑site

Qualifications

• Experience in analogue and digital circuit design.
• Embedded C programming with low-level hardware knowledge.
• Familiar with oscilloscopes, signal generators and test equipment.
• Hands-on prototyping, soldering and wiring.
• Degree-qualified or significant equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Electronic hardware design including schematics, PCB layout, and component selection.
• Embedded firmware development for microcontroller-based systems.
• Creation of wiring diagrams, BoMs, and technical documentation.
• Testing, fault finding, repair, and product support.
• Support for onsite commissioning and customer installations.
• International travel to customer and company sites with potential offshore work.
