Job summary

GSL Education Hull Branch are seeking an ELSA Teaching Assistant to work in a Market Weighton school. You will provide targeted emotional literacy support to pupils and help them feel safe, valued and ready to engage with learning.

The role requires experience supporting children with social, emotional or behavioural needs, an ELSA qualification or relevant training is highly desirable, and a calm, compassionate approach with strong communication and safeguarding awareness.

Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

ELSA Teaching Assistant Role:

The successful ELSA Teaching Assistant will provide structured emotional literacy support to pupils who may experience social, emotional or behavioural difficulties. Working alongside teachers and pastoral staff, you will help children develop emotional awareness, self-regulation, resilience and positive relationships, while contributing to a calm and inclusive school environment.

ELSA Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

ELSA Teaching Assistant Requirements:

• Must have previous experience supporting children with social, emotional or behavioural needs.
• An ELSA qualification or relevant training/experience in emotional literacy support is highly desirable
• A calm, compassionate and patient approach when working with children.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to establish positive, trusting relationships.
• A good understanding of safeguarding and commitment to promoting children’s wellbeing.
An up‑to‑date CV covering the last 10 years, with any employment gaps explained
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
