Job summary

Cathedral Eye Clinic in Belfast seeks an experienced Optometrist to join a multi-disciplinary team. You will conduct pre- and post-operative assessments alongside consulting ophthalmologists and participate in advanced scope of practice.

Qualifications

• Qualified Optometrist registered with the GOC; IP qualification desirable or in progress.
• Experience in secondary care and refractive surgery is desirable but not essential; training provided.
• Passion for high quality patient safety and care.
• Strives to deliver clinical excellence with growth and increased scope of practice since qualification.
• Excellent communication skills with a calm demeanour.
• Enthusiastic team player with a hard-working professional work ethic.
• CORU registration is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team of 8 Optometrists, performing pre-op and post-op assessments.
• Collaborate with Consultant Ophthalmologists across sub-specialities including refractive, vitreo-retinal and corneal.
• Engage in advanced scope of practice roles under mentoring of world-class Ophthalmologists.
• Utilise state-of-the-art Optometric equipment to perform and interpret diagnostic scanning of patients.
• Work with our research Optometrist in data collection with patients.
• Manage patients eye conditions autonomously or with the Cathedral team.
• Collaborate with admin and nursing teams to deliver the best possible care.
• Perform eye wellness checks at eye and health screening events with a nurse/assistant.
• Pursue professional development and clinical growth.
