Salary + Benefits: Base salary of £46,811.44 + 18.5% shift allowance = £55,471.56.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to join Alstom as a Maintenance Technician working on the Class 730 fleet. We are seeking a skilled technician with previous experience covering team leader or management duties, who can confidently support Production Manager shifts when required. The successful candidate will be proactive, motivated, and keen to progress. As the depot grows, this role is designed to develop into a Team Leader position, providing a clear pathway for career advancement within the organisation.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure work is performed in a safe and effective manner in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act (1974), Electricity at Work Regulations (1989), Railway Group Standards, and relevant ALSTOM procedures.
  • Undertake exam‑based maintenance.
  • Perform planned and unplanned tasks.
  • Provide technical support to depot teams in fault finding expertise and assistance with train repair activities.
  • Diagnose and repair electronics and electrical systems, including 3‑phase, single‑phase and DC power systems and control systems.
  • Record faults, report faults, gather data and communicate verbally.
  • Carry out fault finding and investigate intermittent faults on vehicles either on depot or in service.
  • Carry out testing & re‑commissioning activities on vehicles and trains according to pre‑written test and commissioning procedures.
  • Assist with component change‑outs, failure reporting for central systems support and reliability growth teams.
  • Assist with skills development within depots.
  • Provide on‑train fault diagnosis and rectification for units in service.
  • Investigate technical problems as instructed by the project support engineering team.
  • Gather required data downloads on critical performance systems.
  • Undertake test runs to assist in fault finding and resolution of faults, particularly the close‑out of repeat failures.
  • Functionally test train‑borne systems with minimal supervision using a variety of techniques, including computer‑based diagnostics systems.
  • Review and rectify test specifications and documentation for functional tests, feeding back any problems with VMI's, fleet checks, modifications or technical documents using the correct process.
  • Assist with the validation of documentation issued in support of maintenance and repair activities, special checks, modifications and experiments.
  • Assist in the validation of maintenance schedule amendments and other technical instructions.
  • Assist in the validation of locally produced technical instructions.
  • Provide technical support in connection with special checks and experiments.
  • Liaise with systems support engineers and specialist engineers to gather technical information needed to resolve technical problems with trains, procedures, materials or component problems.
  • Carry out all duties in accordance with the Train Care Centre quality and safety procedures.
  • Assist in the testing and repair of equipment identified as faulty and removed from trains.
  • Assist the Warranty Engineer in the execution of his responsibilities.
  • Drive the company vehicle to attend outstations/depots or failed units when necessary.
  • Travel to other 730 WMT Project Depots and outstations to assist varying workload when necessary.
  • Assist in APSYS and 5S activities/housekeeping.
