Job description

If you’re passionate about hands‑on engineering, precision, and problem solving — and you want to apply your skills in a research and development environment that pushes technical boundaries — this could be the ideal next step for you.

We’re looking for an Electronics & Instrumentation Technician to join a leading science and engineering business where you will have the chance to work alongside engineers and scientists recognised internationally in their fields. You’ll be joining a small but highly specialised team working on technically complex projects, with the kind of variety, responsibility, and learning potential rarely found in larger organisations.

Benefits

On offer is a competitive salary and benefits, including:

  • 25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays, with option to purchase additional leave
  • 8% matched pension contribution
  • Private healthcare and life assurance
  • A supportive, inclusive working culture
  • Opportunities for training and career development
Responsibilities

You’ll play a key role supporting R&D and test activities, working closely with engineers to design, build, calibrate and maintain bespoke electronic systems.

Expect a mix of hands‑on technical work, diagnostics and repair, and involvement in developing and maintaining specialised equipment.

Your work will involve:

  • Supporting electrical and instrumentation setups for R&D and test facilities.
  • Building, testing and troubleshooting electronic circuits, wiring looms, and PCB assemblies.
  • Calibrating and maintaining instrumentation and control equipment.
  • Working within cleanroom and laboratory environments to high technical standards.
  • Contributing to ongoing improvement and reliability of test systems and facility infrastructure.

You’ll receive structured training and support from experienced engineers, as well as opportunities to expand your expertise.

Experience and Skills

We’re open to candidates from a variety of technical backgrounds — whether you’re a time‑served technician, a recent apprentice, or an experienced engineer looking to apply your skills in a new domain.

You’ll need:

  • A qualification (HNC, BTEC, NVQ or equivalent) in electronics, instrumentation or a similar discipline.
  • Hands‑on experience building, testing or maintaining electronic or instrumentation systems.
  • Good practical understanding of electrical wiring, PCB work, crimping, soldering and use of test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.).
  • A proactive approach, good attention to detail, and the ability to work methodically to procedures.

If you’re an inquisitive, technically minded individual who enjoys making things work and wants to see the impact of your work in real‑world innovation, please apply for immediate consideration.
