Job summary

Megger seeks an Electronics Technician to join the PCB Test Team in the UK. You will support board-level assembly, testing, fault-finding, repair and rework of PCBs within a busy manufacturing environment, ensuring quality and reliability across products.

You will work closely with Engineering and Quality teams, use a range of test equipment, and log faults to support root-cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives within the production floor.

Qualifications

  • Experience in electronics/manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with PCB soldering, repair and rework (SMD and through-hole).
  • Ability to read schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Experience with electronic test equipment.
  • Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out automated and dedicated testing of PCB assemblies per procedures.
  • Diagnose faults at component and board level using schematics and test gear.
  • Perform SMD and through-hole soldering, desoldering, replacement and PCB rework.
  • Use multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies and signal generators to identify faults.
  • Record faults in repair systems and support root-cause investigations.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Quality to address defects.
  • Ensure work complies with procedures and manufacturing requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement to raise quality and efficiency.

Job description

The Vacancy

We are always looking for exceptional individuals to join our multinational group of talented professionals and right now we are seeking to recruit a motivated and talented Electronics Technician to join our PCB Test Team.

In this role, you will support the board-level assembly, testing, inspection, fault-finding, repair and rework of printed circuit boards (PCBs) within our busy manufacturing and production environment. You will be responsible for diagnosing electronic faults at component and board level, carrying out repairs and rework, and ensuring products meet the required quality, reliability and performance standards. You will also work closely with Engineering and Quality teams to investigate defects and contribute to continuous improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out automated and dedicated testing of PCB assemblies in accordance with test procedures and specifications.
  • Diagnose electronic faults at component and board level using schematics, PCB layouts, technical documentation and electronic test equipment.
  • Carry out SMD and through-hole soldering, desoldering, component replacement and PCB rework and repairs.
  • Use equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies and signal generators to identify and investigate electronic faults.
  • Accurately record and log faults using Computer Aided Repair systems and support root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Work closely with Engineering and Quality teams to investigate manufacturing and product defects.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company procedures, quality standards and applicable manufacturing requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement activities to improve manufacturing efficiency, product quality and reliability.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience working within an electronics or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Previous experience in PCB soldering, repair and rework, including SMD and through-hole components, is desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret circuit schematics, PCB layouts, engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience using electronic test and measurement equipment, such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Good computer skills with the ability to accurately record and enter data.
  • Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
