Job Overview

Electronics Manufacturing Test Engineer – Defence Sector

Salary: Circa £45,000 (dependent on experience)

Location: Bolton

We are seeking a skilled Electronics Manufacturing Test Engineer to join a leading defence technology organisation. In this role, you will support the testing and verification of electronic and electrical sub-systems, ensuring products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability throughout the manufacturing process.

Primarily on-site, 4–5 days per week (due to project classification).

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the testing of electronic sub-assemblies, PCBs, and circuit cards during production.
  • Diagnosing faults and implementing corrective measures to maintain production quality.
  • Using manual and automated test equipment to verify product functionality.
  • Generating technical documentation such as test procedures, operator instructions, and reports.
  • Collaborating closely with manufacturing and design teams to resolve technical challenges.
Qualifications
  • HNC, HND, Foundation Degree, BEng / BSc in Electronic or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Practical experience in electronics / electrical manufacturing test and fault diagnosis.
  • Experience with test equipment (manual or automated) and systems such as SAP, MES, or ERP.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
