Job description
Overview

Electronics Engineering Instructor / Technician

Are you an experienced Electronics Engineer or Technician looking to inspire the next generation of engineers?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking FE college in Hampshire, supporting the delivery of hands-on, high-quality electronics and engineering training.

The Role

You'll play a vital part in maintaining industry-standard workshop facilities and supporting students in the development of essential practical skills. Working alongside teaching staff, you'll help deliver engaging practical sessions and ensure that all equipment, materials, and safety standards are maintained to a professional level.

This is an ideal opportunity for a skilled electronics or control systems professional with strong practical skills — especially in PCB design, soldering, and PLCs — who is keen to pass on their knowledge in an educational environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support lecturers in preparing and delivering practical sessions across electronics and general engineering.
  • Deliver small-group instruction and provide practical demonstrations when required.
  • Maintain and manage tools, components, and workshop equipment to ensure a safe and efficient learning environment.
  • Assist in the preparation, setup, and testing of training rigs, PCBs, and automation systems.
  • Contribute to the development of learning materials and resources.
  • Uphold high standards of health and safety at all times.
What We're Looking For
  • Level 3 (or higher) qualification in Electronics, Electrical, or General Engineering.
  • Strong practical skills in PCB assembly, soldering, and fault-finding.
  • Working knowledge of PLC systems and automation equipment.
  • Previous experience in a workshop or laboratory environment (education or industry).
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A commitment to supporting learners and maintaining a positive, safe workshop culture.
  • A teaching or assessing qualification is desirable but not essential — training and support can be provided.
Why Join?
  • Competitive salary and generous holiday entitlement.
  • Professional development opportunities including teaching and assessor qualifications.
  • Supportive team environment with access to excellent facilities.
  • Opportunity to play a key role in developing future engineers.
