Job summary

Orion Electrotech Ltd is seeking an Electronics Engineer to join the Systems Engineering team, contributing to design, development and fault finding across complete electromechanical systems.

This role offers hands-on involvement across electronics design, systems integration, product improvement, troubleshooting and NPI, with close collaboration with Engineering and Production to move designs from concept through to manufacture.

Qualifications

• A degree or equivalent in Electronic/Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in electronics design and testing.
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills, including at component level.

Are you a hands-on Electronics Engineer who enjoys design, development and fault finding, but also wants the variety of working across complete electromechanical systems?

This is an opportunity for an Electronics Engineer / Systems Engineer to play a key role in developing and supporting a market-leading product range trusted by a global, blue-chip client base.

This is a varied, practical role where you'll work across electronics design, systems integration, product improvement, troubleshooting and New Product Introduction (NPI). You'll have the opportunity to get genuinely hands-on with the equipment, working closely with both Engineering and Production to take designs from concept and development through to manufacture.

Key responsibilities

• Designing and developing analogue and digital electronic circuitry
• Designing, testing and integrating electronics within complex electromechanical equipment
• Troubleshooting electronic and hardware faults, including component-level fault finding
• Working with embedded electronics
• Supporting PCB/PCBA design, development, manufacture and testing
• Developing and automating test systems and instrumentation to assess performance and reliability
• Working hands-on with associated electrical/electromechanical components
• Investigating existing products and identifying improvements to reliability, efficiency, manufacturability and cost
• Supporting Production with technical issues and engineering changes
• Managing changes through formal engineering change/ECN processes
• Playing an active role in new product development and NPI
• Producing and maintaining technical documentation, including specifications, schematics, test reports and engineering change documentation

Ideally, you'll have a background including

• A degree, HND or equivalent experience in Electronic/Electrical Engineering
• Previous experience in an Electronics Engineer, Systems Engineer, Development Engineer or similar role
• Strong knowledge of analogue and digital electronics
• Experience designing and testing electronics
• Good electronic fault-finding and troubleshooting skills, ideally to component level
• Experience with embedded electronics, including microcontrollers and communication protocols
• PCB design/schematic capture experience
• An understanding of PCB/PCBA manufacture and testing
• The ability to work comfortably across both design and hands-on engineering
• Experience supporting products within a manufacturing/production environment
