Job description

Do you get a buzz from solving complex and diverse engineering problems?

Want your work to end up in medical devices that make a real difference to patients?

We’re looking for an Electronics Engineer to join a specialist product development consultancy in Cambridgeshire, working on medical and healthcare technology for clients from early-stage start-ups through to global names.

This is a hands‑on role, designing hardware for medium and high-volume manufacture. You’ll own electronic designs at both system and circuit level, taking them from first concept through prototyping, debug and verification, and into production. You’ll work in well‑equipped labs and workshops, alongside engineers from other disciplines where peer review is part of the culture, and you’ll see how each project makes different demands on the design. With a different client and a new technical challenge every few months, you’ll never be doing the same thing twice.

What You’ll Bring
  • Commercial experience (around 2-5 years) designing electronic hardware that has gone beyond the bench
  • A good degree in electronics, electrical engineering, physics or a similar discipline
  • Confidence with a professional electronics CAD package (Altium preferred)
  • Practical, hands‑on skills in building, modifying and troubleshooting prototypes, with ease using standard lab test equipment
  • A broad awareness of what’s current in electronics technology and manufacturing methods
  • A methodical approach to problem-solving, backed by clear, well‑organised design documentation
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable explaining technical points to engineers and non‑engineers alike
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to client and supplier sites, in the UK and abroad
Also Valued
  • Exposure to adjacent areas such as optics, embedded software or signal processing
  • FPGA / programmable logic development
  • Python for scripting and test automation
  • Experience in a regulated environment, particularly medical device quality and safety standards

If you want varied, technically demanding work, a team that shares knowledge freely, and designs that make a real difference, this could be the role for you.
