Job description
Overview

Electronics Box Build Technician – Autonomous Robotics | Oxford | £Competitive + Benefits

We're recruiting for a rapidly scaling autonomous robotics company that designs and builds their robots in-house. They need an Electronics Box Build Technician to join their production team - someone who owns their work, delivers quality, and thrives in a fast-moving environment.

The Company

This company is led by an ex-F1 CEO who's brought that high-performance, no-compromise culture to robotics. They're backed by top European VCs, scaling globally, and their autonomous robots are deployed with major logistics and manufacturing clients.

Their robots scan warehouses autonomously and generate real-time, AI-driven insights. You'll be building the electrical enclosures and control systems that power them.

The Role

You'll assemble mission-critical electrical and electronic enclosures (box builds) for autonomous robots. This is a results-focused role where quality, speed, and ownership matter. You own your output and the standard of your work.

What you'll do:

  • Assemble complex electrical and electronic enclosures according to mechanical drawings, wiring schematics, and assembly instructions
  • Route, bundle, and secure wire harnesses and cable assemblies within tight mechanical constraints
  • Mount and install PCBs, power supplies, relays, terminal blocks, and other components
  • Conduct continuity, insulation resistance, and functional tests on completed assemblies
  • Troubleshoot and rework faulty assemblies or wiring looms with minimal supervision
  • Document build issues and provide feedback for design improvements and manufacturability
  • Work closely with engineers and production leads to ensure high quality and consistency
  • Maintain cleanliness, tidiness, and ESD safety in workspaces
  • Adhere to production schedules and prioritize tasks to meet business deadlines

You don't walk past problems. If something's not right, you fix it today - not "sometime next sprint." Team over ego: you mentor others, share knowledge, and make everyone faster.

What They're Looking For

Essential:

  • 2+ years experience in electronic or electromechanical assembly (particularly box build or control panel assembly)
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics, mechanical drawings, and work instructions
  • Skilled in soldering, crimping, cable routing, and mechanical assembly
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, or similar workmanship standards
  • Experience with standard hand and power tools used in wiring and electronics assembly
  • Strong attention to detail and quality-oriented mindset
  • Experience inspecting and testing assembled units to specification and performing repairs
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work unsociable hours when needed to meet deadlines
  • Comfortable adapting to rapid changes as projects and priorities shift
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to develop

Desirable:

  • Experience in precision manufacturing (motorsport, aerospace, automotive, industrial equipment)
  • Background in robotics, automation systems, or aerospace/defense electronics
  • IPC certification (IPC-A-610 or IPC/WHMA-A-620)
  • Experience using multimeters, oscilloscopes, or other electronic test equipment
  • Familiarity with ERP or MRP systems for tracking inventory and work orders
  • Positive, can-do attitude in high-performance, high-change environments
What's In It For You?
  • Private healthcare via Bupa (24/7 medical helpline)
  • Life insurance and income protection
  • Pension: 5% employer contribution
  • Employee Assistance Programme (mental wellbeing, financial and legal support)
  • 25 days holiday
  • Full meals on-site
  • Team events and a genuinely exciting, fast-paced culture
The Reality Check

This is a high-performance environment with minimal supervision and fast feedback loops. If that makes you uncomfortable, this isn’t the role. But if you're someone who takes pride in delivering exceptional results, pushes your own limits, and wants to be part of something genuinely exciting - we want to hear from you
