Job summary

Electronic Engineering Technician role in Cwmbran, United Kingdom, offering £28,000–£30,000 depending on experience. You will work across electronics assembly, testing, fault-finding and RF/opto-electronic components in a small specialist engineering environment.

The role covers reading schematics, using oscilloscopes, VNWA, spectrum analysers and other test gear, plus soldering and maintaining records. Full-time, 37.5h week with standard hours and holidays.

Qualifications

• Practical experience with analogue and digital electronics.
• Understanding of RF electronics is desirable.
• Strong electronic fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot circuits to component level.
• Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators and bench power supplies.
• Good soldering and PCB rework skills.
• Ability to read and understand electronic schematics and technical drawings.
• Basic CAD experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Testing, repairing and modifying analogue, digital and RF electronic circuits and equipment.
• Fault-finding electronic assemblies to component level.
• Reading and interpreting circuit diagrams, PCB layouts, wiring diagrams and technical drawings.
• Using oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, VNWA, signal generators and other electronic test equipment.
• Carrying out through-hole and surface-mount soldering, PCB repair and component replacement.
• Performing functional testing and maintaining accurate test records.
• Testing and evaluating opto-electronic and laser-related components and assemblies.
• Supporting prototype development and engineering modifications.
• Preparing and kitting electronic and mechanical components for subcontract manufacture.
• Using CAD software to view and modify mechanical drawings and simple designs.
• Carrying out basic workshop activities including drilling, milling and tapping.
• Supporting stock control, goods-in and component identification.
• Maintaining technical documentation, production records and compliance information.
• Maintaining tools, test equipment and workshop areas to a high standard.

Electronic Engineering Technician required. Our client is a small specialist engineering company and UK subsidiary of a US-based business, designing and manufacturing highly specialised RF driver electronics used in laser beam control applications.

They are seeking a practical, self-motivated and adaptable Electronic Engineering Technician to work across electronics assembly, testing, fault-finding, RF and opto-electronics, production support and general workshop activities.

Electronic Engineering Technician Position Overview

Electronic Engineering Technician Position Requirements

Electronic Engineering Technician Position Remuneration

• Starting salary circa £28,000 - £30,000, depending on experience
• Full-time: 37.5 hours per week
• Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm, with 1 hour for lunch. Flexibility in working hours will be considered
• 28 days' holiday plus 2 company days and bank holidays
• Private healthcare scheme after 1 year's proven employment

• Company pension, with employee contribution of 5% and Company contribution of 3%
• 6-month probationary period
