Ruth Wagstaff Recruitment Ltd. Swansea is seeking an Electronic Design Engineer to join a regulatory‑driven engineering team. You will contribute to a busy NPI pipeline, reverse engineering designs and creating new iterations while focusing on manufacturability and cost reductions.

The role involves high‑stakes electronics work, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and a clear path for career progression within a fast‑moving environment. Hybrid working is offered in a Swansea location.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience in regulated environments (medical/automotive/aerospace) is desirable.
• Experience with PSU design, RF generation, power factor correction, and embedded MCUs.
• EMC compliance, fault-tolerant design, and test/verification of electronics and embedded software.
• Experience with contract manufacturers, hand soldering/rework, PCB design tools (Altium/Proteus), and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Reverse engineering old designs and designing new iterations.
• Design and development of devices and related technologies.
• Design and validate next-generation products focusing on manufacturability and BOM cost.
• Reduce BOM cost through component choices and supply chain leverage.
• Improve manufacturability to cut assembly/calibration time.
• Improve serviceability to simplify service calls.
• Improve product reliability.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Reverse engineering old designs and designing new iterations.
• Design and development of devices and associated technologies.
• Design and validate the next generation of products with a focus on manufacturability and BOM cost.

Requirements

• Degree qualified (or equivalent experience) in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Background within regulated sectors such as medical, automotive, aerospace, or similar environments desirable
• Modern PSU design, high power RF generation, power factor correction, embedded microcontrollers and wired communications
• EMC compliance, fault‑tolerant product design, validation and verification of electronics and embedded software, and test jig development
• Working with UK and overseas contract manufacturers, hand soldering/rework, PCB design (Altium and Proteus), 60601 compliance documentation, and lab report writing
