Job description

Electronics Engineer - Audio Design
The Opportunity

Are you an Electronics Engineer who enjoys getting hands‑on with real products and seeing your designs move from an idea on paper to a working prototype?

This could be a great opportunity to join a fast‑growing product development team where no two projects are quite the same. You'll work across a wide range of industries, developing innovative electronics for customers in areas such as industrial, aerospace, automotive, IoT, FMCG and more.

The key difference here? You'll have the opportunity to use your electronics skills across the full product development lifecycle, while developing particular expertise in audio electronics. From recovering and improving existing designs to developing completely new products, you'll be involved in the technical challenges that make product development interesting.

You'll work alongside experienced engineers while taking increasing ownership of your own projects, giving you plenty of opportunity to develop technically and progress towards senior‑level responsibility.

What You'll Be Doing

As an Electronics Engineer, you'll contribute to projects from initial concept through to prototype, testing and production. You'll have the opportunity to get involved across hardware, embedded firmware, testing and manufacturing.

  • Design and develop analogue and digital electronics, with a particular focus on audio circuits and systems.
  • Create and maintain schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs and technical documentation using Altium or similar ECAD tools.
  • Design and validate audio circuits including preamps, filters, mixers, amplifiers, codecs, ADC/DAC interfaces, microphones and speakers.
  • Work with digital audio interfaces such as I2S, TDM, PDM, S/PDIF and USB audio.
  • Carry out prototype builds, board bring‑up, testing and first‑article validation.
  • Investigate and resolve hardware, audio and quality issues through structured fault‑finding and analysis.
  • Support design reviews, DFM/DFT activities, component selection and production considerations.
  • Work with communication interfaces including SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, CANbus and LINbus.
  • Manage your own engineering tasks and contribute to Agile development using tools such as Jira.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and the wider development team to solve complex technical challenges.
What We're Looking For

You’ll ideally have a relevant Electronics Engineering degree and around 4-6 years’ hands‑on industry experience developing electronic products.

Most importantly, you’ll have genuine experience designing and validating audio electronics, including analogue signal paths and audio performance measurements such as SNR, THD+N, frequency response, noise floor, crosstalk and dynamic range.

You’ll also bring experience with:
  • AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion and battery‑powered products.
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout, ideally using Altium.
  • Embedded hardware and microcontroller‑based products.
  • Hardware debugging and component‑level fault finding.
  • Integrating COTS and bespoke electronics into finished products.
  • Design for manufacture, reliability and product longevity.
  • Working within structured development processes and managing your own workload.
  • Clear communication and a collaborative approach to engineering.
What's in It for You?

You’ll join a growing product development environment where you’ll work alongside experienced engineers, tackle genuinely varied projects and have the opportunity to broaden your technical skillset.

As your experience develops, you’ll be given increasing ownership of projects and the opportunity to progress towards Senior Electronics Engineer‑level technical responsibility.

You’ll also benefit from:
  • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Regular external training and professional development opportunities.
  • Exposure to a wide variety of technologies, products and industries.
  • The opportunity to work across the complete electronics product lifecycle
