Overview
Role: Electronic and Electrical Maintenance Engineer
Location: Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
Working hours: Monday to Friday – Days
Salary: Up to £42,000 per annum – Depending on experience
Capacity of role: Permanent position
Responsibilities
- Programming of PLCs, upgrading control panels for automated systems and HMIs.
- Assist the Department Head in providing maintenance support for all departments within the group.
- Assist production when necessary to maintain production output.
- Prompt attendance to machinery failures/ breakdowns, fault finding on electronic and electrical systems and repair.
- All planned maintenance tasks to ensure optimal production availability.
- Programming of PLCs and upgrading control panels for automated systems; diagnose faults and repair equipment.
- Complete and update tasks using a maintenance-based software.
- Provide assistance to Service Engineers / Contractors as required.
- Generate ideas for improvement in the Maintenance Department.
- Fault-finding, repair, and improvement of all aspects of control systems.
- Installing new equipment and electronic control systems.
- Replacement of outdated control systems to achieve company-wide consistency, flexibility and reliability.
- Assist departments with fault-finding on their machines using various PLC software and test equipment.
- Ensure all departments are maintained to high standards, ensuring compliance to insurance, regulations and safety audits.
- Continuous improvement activities, identifying areas of the site and manufacturing to improve, creating solutions and implementation including project-based work.
- Investigate and, where possible, offer suggestions for system improvements and/or cost reductions.
- Knowledge of variable frequency speed controllers, inverters and vibration feed controllers.
Candidate attributes
- Proficient in PLC programming; experience with Allen Bradley and Mitsubishi machines would be beneficial.
- Experience in supporting a fast-paced production environment.
- At least 5-10 years' experience in a production support role.
- Very good electronic and electrical aptitude with the ability to diagnose machine faults.
- Extensive knowledge of various electrical control systems, instrumentation, PLC programs, and systems would be a major benefit.
