Job summary

SLB is seeking an Electrochemical Reactor Engineer for a 2 year fixed term contract in the Cambridge Research Laboratory. The role centers on translating cutting-edge electrochemical science into real-world engineering solutions for water treatment and contaminant destruction.

You will design, simulate and automate state-of-the-art electrochemical reactors, contributing to scalable solutions for PFAS and other contaminants in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • PhD (or equivalent) in Chemical, Electrochemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong experience in electrochemical systems, flow reactors, and scale-up.
  • Expertise in automation, sensors, and process control systems.
  • Proven track record delivering working reactor hardware.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and scale flow‑through electrochemical reactors operating at high current densities.
  • Select advanced electrode materials (e.g. BDD) to maximise defluorination and energy efficiency.
  • Optimise mass transport and fluid dynamics.
  • Develop automated control systems with real‑time monitoring and optimisation.
  • Build and operate prototypes, delivering systems from concept to functional hardware.
