Job summary

Point Professional Recruitment LTD is seeking a Production Technician (electromechanical) in Cambridge to join a world-leading technology business. You will work on electromechanical assembly and test of high-precision products and contribute to manufacturing processes.

The role requires an engineering background, good fault-finding skills, and experience with SMT soldering to 0201 as well as wiring and harness assembly. Hours are full-time, with salary £35,000–£37,000 and benefits.

Qualifications

• A formal engineering qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
• Solid understanding of electronic fundamentals.
• Proven troubleshooting, fault finding, and debugging skills.
• SMT soldering to 0201 and PCB repair experience.
• Wiring and cable and harness assembly experience.
• Proficient in the use of standard test equipment including oscilloscopes, DVMs, and signal generators.
• Reading schematic designs.
• Working knowledge of PCB design software.
• Basic experience with SolidWorks or another mechanical design software package.
• Understanding of cleanroom techniques for opto-mechanical assembly.
• Computer literate with good attention to detail and documentation skills.
• Basic understanding of analogue and digital video processing (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Electromechanical assembly and test of high-precision products, ranging from cable assemblies through to full system builds
• Manufacture and testing of mechanical, optical, and electronic assemblies
• Component-level fault finding, troubleshooting, and debugging
• SMT soldering to 0201 and PCB repair
• Wiring and cable and harness assembly
• Use of standard test equipment including oscilloscopes, DVMs, and signal generators
• Reading and interpreting schematic designs
• Assembly work within cleanroom environments using appropriate opto-mechanical techniques
• Accurate recording and documentation of assembly and test outcomes
