Job summary

Veolia Group is seeking an Electro Mechanical Technician to drive maintenance and fault‑finding across a modern Energy Recovery Facility in Marchwood. You will diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical systems, support PLC controllers and collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical and C&I teams during breakdowns.

You will maintain cranes, switchgear, transformers, motors and pumps, and participate in a 365‑day maintenance rota.

Qualifications

  • Recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent electrical/ mechanical maintenance qualification.
  • Proven experience diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience in continuous-process, power-generation, industrial or similar operational environment.
  • Practical knowledge of preventative maintenance techniques and CMMS.
  • Experience with PLC-controlled equipment, motors, pumps, conveyors, switchgear, transformers, generators, cranes or similar industrial plant.
  • Competence using electrical test equipment and general workshop machinery/tools.
  • Ability to work safely with electrical and mechanical equipment, including high-voltage systems when trained/authorised.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-skilled team.
  • Willingness to work a staggered rota 7 days a week, 365 days a year including weekends and out-of-hours.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out electrical and mechanical fault-finding and planned preventative maintenance within a modern Energy Recovery Facility.
  • Maintain and diagnose faults on overhead cranes, grabs, inverters, battery and UPS systems, transformers, 415V and 11kV switchgear, protective devices, generator AVR and excitation systems.
  • Maintain rotating equipment such as 415VAC motors, pumps, conveyors, motorised valves and associated control gear.
  • Interface with PLC controllers and support Electrical, Mechanical and C&I teams during breakdowns.
  • Use electrical test equipment and workshop tools; record maintenance on CMMS; support 365-day maintenance cover.
