About the programme
You’ll begin by working alongside experienced engineers, developing a strong understanding of the Design Engineer role and its application within the naval and defence sector. As your skills and knowledge develop, you’ll take on increasing responsibility, contributing directly to projects that support Submarines, Surface Ships, and advanced Communications technologies.
Throughout the programme, you’ll develop crucial skills in electrical and mechanical design, requirements definition, use of test equipment and hand tools, and more. You’ll gradually take on more responsibility, supported every step of the way by your team and mentor.
Whether you’re problem-solving with colleagues or applying theory to practice, you’ll build your skills while contributing to meaningful projects.

Throughout the programme, you will develop the technical knowledge, professional skills and industry experience needed to succeed in your engineering career. On successful completion of the programme and End-Point Assessment (EPA), you will be well placed to progress into a substantive engineering role within the business.
