The Electro-Mechanical Engineer in Wimborne will be responsible for designing complex electro-mechanical assemblies, including enclosures, wiring harnesses, and PCB assemblies using 3D CAD tools. This role requires someone who can ensure compliance with aerospace standards such as EWIS, EMC, and IPC guidelines while maintaining manufacturability and testability. Working in a collaborative and forward-thinking team, the Electro-Mechanical Engineer will generate and manage engineering drawings, apply configuration control using systems such as PTC Windchill, and lead engineering change requests. They will work with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and use advanced problem-solving tools such as Design for Six Sigma and Lean methodologies to drive efficiency and innovation.

  • Design and develop electro-mechanical assemblies, including enclosures, wiring looms, and PCBs
  • Generate and maintain engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace design and safety standards
  • Lead and manage engineering change requests through to implementation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver design solutions on time and to specification
  • Support production teams with troubleshooting and process improvements
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
  • Drive innovation and contribute to intellectual property and technical publications
  • Strong experience in 3D modelling using PTC CREO or equivalent software
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools such as PTC Windchill
  • Understanding of EWIS, EMC, and IPC manufacturing standards
  • Ability to analyse and optimise designs for manufacturability and testability
  • Familiarity with loom design and electrical harnessing tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills using Six Sigma or Lean methodologies
