Job summary

We are seeking a skilled Electrician to join Mears Group plc in Peterborough. This field-based role covers maintenance, repair and installation of electrical systems in tenanted properties, delivering safe, compliant and quality workmanship.

Role involves reactive repairs, planned maintenance and support for refurbishment programmes. NVQ3 in Electrical Installations, 18th Edition, and a UK driving licence are essential; local housing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations (AM2) required.
• City & Guilds 18th Edition (or ready to upgrade from 17th edition).
• Inspection and Testing 2391 or 2394/2395 required.
• A full UK driving licence with a clean record.
• Experience in domestic or social housing environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Repair and replace faulty electrical accessories (sockets, lights, switches, extractors).
• Inspect, test and certify electrical installations for compliance and safety.
• Diagnose faults and rectify consumer units (fuse boxes).
• Carry out first fix electrical works and rewires, including new accessories and cabling.
• Work independently or in a team to meet daily repair targets.
• Communicate clearly with tenants about works and expected outcomes.
• Keep work areas clean, safe and compliant with health and safety policies.
