Job summary

Rapiscan Systems in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking an experienced electrical assembler for cargo security systems. You will build and wire sub-systems for mobile trucks and gantry rails, following detailed specifications and using a variety of hand and power tools.

The role involves reading drawings or schematics, cutting wires, insulating connections, crimping terminals, and testing electrical assemblies to ensure reliability and safety in demanding environments.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in a rapidly changing environment is essential.
• Attention to detail and production of a quality item are vital skills.
• Experience with 240V and 415V systems and Cat5 cable is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assembles, routes, wires, and installs electrical and electronic components in mobile truck and gantry rail systems according to specifications.
• Reads drawings and occasionally schematics to determine assembly methods.
• Cuts wires to specified lengths and insulates connections with sleeves.
• Crimps terminal eyelets and lugs to wire ends and attaches wire to terminal points.
• Connects wiring to accessories and installs assemblies in electrical or electronic units.
• Performs functional and continuity tests of electrical assemblies and harnesses.
