Job description

Title: Electrician

Location: HMYOI Wetherby, York Road, Wetherby LS22 5ED

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 39 hours per week, between 07:45 and 16:45 Monday to Sunday (finish at 15:45 Friday). 1 in 3 weekends on a rota basis with a 15% allowance.

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Electrician in HMYOI Wetherby. Join our vibrant, inclusive community in Ministry of Justice (MoJ) facilities management, delivering critical services for prisons across the UK.

What you will do:

  • Planned and preventative electrical maintenance.
  • Respond to breakdowns ensuring all works are carried out under the appropriate Safe System of Work and in a timely manner.
  • Actively fault find and problem solve on domestic electrical systems across the prison.
  • Undertake electrical installation activities in accordance with the design provided and IET Wiring Regulations.
  • Test and inspect electrical installations in accordance with the current IEE wiring regulations.
  • Monitor and order critical spares for all electrical services.
  • Other tasks as required by the Site.

What you will bring:

  • Ability to work alone and use initiative.
  • Knowledge and experience of Electrical Systems and Electricity at work Regulations.
  • Capable of working at heights.
  • Appropriate technical qualification eg City & Guilds 2365 parts 1-3, BTEC, NVQ level 3 or above.
  • BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations, specifically 18th Edition (sponsor to upgrade if you have 17th Edition).
  • Experience of electrical maintenance activities, general distribution and installation and testing within a commercial environment.
  • Experience in fire alarm systems and CCTV systems.
  • IT skills.
