Job summary

Cotswold Energy Group is seeking an experienced Residential Electrician to install, test and commission renewable energy systems in domestic properties. You will work with surveyors and installation teams to ensure safe, compliant and high-quality work.

Essential qualifications include NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation, 18th Edition, AM2 and ECS Gold Card, with a full UK driving licence. Training is provided for renewables and career progression opportunities exist into senior roles.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation (or equivalent) is required.
• AM2, 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and ECS Gold Card are essential.
• Full UK Driving Licence is required.
• Experience working within domestic properties is essential.
• Strong fault-finding ability and safety awareness are a must.
• Excellent customer communication and high attention to detail are expected.

Responsibilities

• Carry out domestic electrical installation work for renewable energy projects.

Job description

Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Residential Electrician who wants to develop a long-term career within the renewable energy sector.

The Role

This is far more than a traditional domestic electrician role.

Working alongside our surveyors, heating engineers and installation teams, you will be responsible for the electrical installation, testing and commissioning of renewable energy systems within residential properties.

You'll play a key role in ensuring every installation is safe, compliant and delivered to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out all domestic electrical installation work associated with renewable energy projects.

• Install, test and commission Solar PV systems.

• Install battery storage systems and hybrid inverters.

• Complete electrical connections for Air Source Heat Pumps.

• Install domestic EV charging points.

• Upgrade consumer units where required.

• Assess existing electrical installations and identify remedial works.

• Carry out fault finding and diagnostics.

• Complete electrical testing and certification in accordance with BS7671.

• Ensure all installations comply with current Wiring Regulations, Building Regulations and MCS requirements.

• Work closely with technical surveyors to ensure installations are completed as designed.

• Liaise professionally with homeowners throughout the installation process.

• Complete all installation documentation accurately.

• Support apprentices and junior engineers where appropriate.

• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, health & safety and customer care.

You’ll be a qualified electrician who enjoys solving problems and takes pride in producing high-quality work.

You’ll be comfortable working independently but equally enjoy collaborating with a wider installation team.

Essential Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation (or equivalent)

• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations

• AM2
• ECS Gold Card

• Full UK Driving Licence

• Experience working within domestic properties

• Strong fault-finding ability

• Excellent customer communication skills

• High attention to detail

• Ability to work safely and efficiently without supervision

Desirable Experience

Experience in one or more of the following would be highly advantageous:

• Solar PV installations

• Battery Storage Systems

• Air Source Heat Pumps

• EV Charging installations

• G98/G99 applications

• MCS-compliant installations

• Renewable energy commissioning

• Electrical design and load calculations
• City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent Inspection & Testing qualification

Training can be provided for the right candidate looking to move into renewables.
