Job summary

Dalkia UK is seeking an Electrician for the Hinkley Point C construction site near Bridgwater to install electrical systems, wiring, containment and distribution boards in line with drawings and specifications. You will test, inspect and commission installations, support project managers, and mentor apprentices to uphold high quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Install electrical systems, wiring, containment and distribution boards per drawings.
  • Fit lighting, power, fire alarm, security and BMS systems.
  • Test, inspect and commission electrical installations to quality benchmarks.
  • Ensure compliance with BS 7671 and HSE policies.
  • Collaborate with mechanical/HVAC/plumbing trades for coordinated installations.
  • Produce accurate documentation including test certificates and drawings.
  • Mentor junior electricians or apprentices on-site.

Summary of Role:

An Electrician at Dalkia plays a key role within a multi-skilled construction site team, responsible for installing a range of Electrical systems. The role demands a deep understanding of project operations and design, with a focus on delivering high-quality electrical installations that meet exacting specifications. As part of a growing business, the electrician will support project and construction managers, demonstrating both technical expertise and professionalism.

Key responsibilities:
Electrical Installation
  • Install electrical systems, wiring, containment (e.g. trunking, conduit), and distribution boards in line with technical drawings and specifications.
  • Fit and connect lighting, power, fire alarm, security, and building management systems (BMS).
  • Experience on large-scale industrial, power generation, or nuclear construction projects is preferred.
Compliance & Standards
  • Ensure all work complies with current electrical regulations (e.g. BS 7671 – IET Wiring Regulations).
  • Adhere to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, including site-specific risk assessments and method statements.
Quality Control
  • Deliver installations to a high standard, meeting project specifications and quality benchmarks.
  • Carry out testing, inspection, and commissioning of electrical systems.
  • Produce accurate quality documentation.
Technical Problem-Solving
  • Identify and resolve technical issues or design clashes during installation.
  • Provide feedback to supervisors or design teams where design improvements are identified.
Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with other trades (mechanical, HVAC, plumbing) to ensure coordinated MEP installations.
  • Support site supervisors and project managers with progress updates and technical input.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Complete required documentation, such as test certificates, as-built drawings, and progress reports.
  • Log materials used and assist with tracking labour hours and productivity.
Tool & Equipment Management
  • Use, maintain, and store tools and testing equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure proper use of lifting equipment or access platforms when required.
Mentoring & Support
  • Support junior electricians or apprentices through on-the-job training and guidance.
  • Share best practices and contribute to a positive site culture.
Essential Qualifications:
One of the following from A and B:
A
  • Level 3 Installation Electrician Apprenticeship Standard (STO152)
  • An equivalent Electrical Installation Apprenticeship
  • ECS Gold Card
B
One of the following Skills Test
  • AM2
  • FICA
Mandatory Health and Safety Requirement:
  • CCNSG or ECS HS&E Test
Desirable qualifications and Experience:
  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing
  • Level 3 EAL 4337 Initial Verification
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, installation, and testing procedures.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • A proactive and problem-solving approach to work.

  • 10 / 4 shift pattern
