Electrical Test Engineers vacancy in London (M25 belt) (247DM)
This role is ideally suited to those with a background in electrical engineering who are seeking to apply their skills in a civilian environment. The client delivers electrical safety testing and compliance services across the UK, helping to keep workplaces safe and operational. You’ll work independently while still being part of a supportive and mission-focused team.
You’ll operate from your home base and surrounding areas, with some travel across the UK depending on operational needs.
Role Overview
- As an Electrical Test Engineer, you’ll conduct inspection and testing on commercial electrical systems, primarily focusing on Distribution Boards.
- The work demands precision, attention to detail, and a methodical approach.
- Most work will be completed during normal working hours, though there may be occasional requirements for out-of-hours work depending on client access and site conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical periodic inspection and testing of commercial installations (Fixed Wire Testing).
- Complete and submit accurate NICEIC test reports for technical review.
- Undertake minor remedial works when required.
- Perform Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) as needed.
- Work closely with the Technical Manager and Operations Team to ensure tasks are completed safely and to high standards.
- Uphold safety standards and operate in full compliance with all relevant legislation and company procedures.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Recognised electrical qualification (time-served preferred).
- City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing) or equivalent (2394 & 2395).
- Proven ability to work safely and independently in accordance with regulations.
- Strong understanding of BS 7671 and electrical safety standards.
Desirable Attributes:
- Transferable electrical or engineering experience.
- Strong sense of responsibility, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, disciplined, and comfortable working unsupervised.
- Commitment to continual learning and professional development.
- Flexibility to travel and adapt to varying operational requirements.
