Electrical Test Engineers (247dm) - London (M25 belt) - £39,000 DOE + Company Car

This role is ideally suited to those with a background in electrical engineering who are seeking to apply their skills in a civilian environment. The client delivers electrical safety testing and compliance services across the UK, helping to keep workplaces safe and operational.

You'll work independently while still being part of a supportive and mission-focused team. Due to the nature of this recruitment consultancy, we are only able to represent individuals who are ex‑military. You'll operate from your home base and surrounding areas, with some travel across the UK depending on operational needs.

Role Overview

As an Electrical Test Engineer, you’ll conduct inspection and testing on commercial electrical systems, primarily focusing on distribution boards. The work demands precision, attention to detail, and a methodical approach. Most work will be completed during normal working hours, though there may be occasional requirements for out-of-hours work depending on client access and site conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out electrical periodic inspection and testing of commercial installations (fixed wire testing).
  • Complete and submit accurate NICEIC test reports for technical review.
  • Undertake minor remedial works when required.
  • Perform portable appliance testing (PAT) as needed.
  • Work closely with the Technical Manager and Operations Team to ensure tasks are completed safely and to high standards.
  • Uphold safety standards and operate in full compliance with all relevant legislation and company procedures.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • Recognised electrical qualification (time‑served).
  • City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing) or equivalent (2394 & 2395).
  • Proven ability to work safely and independently in accordance with regulations.
  • Strong understanding of BS 7671 and electrical safety standards.

  • Transferable electrical or engineering experience.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Self‑motivated, disciplined, and comfortable working unsupervised.
