Job summary

A global leader in engineering is seeking an experienced Electrical Technician Lead Hand to oversee a team of skilled technicians. This role involves supporting the Electrical Supervisor in managing daily operations and ensuring projects are completed to the highest quality standards. Qualifications

  • Proven experience working with electrical and electronic systems in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of low-voltage AC/DC panel wiring and looming, high-voltage installations, control and data systems.
  • Confident interpreting electrical drawings and schematics.

Electrical Technician Lead Hand

Our client, a global leader in engineering, is seeking an experienced Electrical Technician Lead Hand to join their team at their North Yorkshire facility.

The Role

As the Electrical Technician Lead Hand, you will play a key role in supporting the Electrical Supervisor to manage daily operations within the electrical department. You'll oversee a team of skilled technicians, ensuring that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

In the supervisor's absence, you will take on leadership responsibilities — maintaining workflow, prioritising tasks, and ensuring all deadlines are achieved.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, coordinate, and support a team of electrical technicians to deliver high-quality assemblies.
  • Act as deputy to the Electrical Supervisor when required.
  • Maintain department quality standards and ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Promote and enforce Health & Safety policies across all activities.
  • Monitor departmental efficiency and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and smooth handover of completed work to other departments.
  • Support the supervisor in meeting key project milestones and integration schedules.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum ONC (or equivalent) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering.
  • Proven experience working with electrical and electronic systems in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Low-voltage AC/DC panel wiring and looming
    • High-voltage installations
    • Control and data systems
    • Fibre optic handling and termination
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and MRP/stock management systems.
Desirable
  • IEEE 16th Edition accreditation (or equivalent).
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for project support.
