Overview
We currently have a great opportunity for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our Wastewater Operations Team in Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a close-knit team that varies in age and ability, all performing at a high level.
This role offers great learning potential with the ability to cross‑skill into other disciplines.
Base location would be either Witney (OX28 5JH) or Cirencester (GL7 6DA). The position is 38 hours a week, Monday to Friday, with inclusion on a standby rota.
Responsibilities
- Proactively and reactively maintain the electrical assets onsite.
- Investigate plant failures, carry out repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid interruptions to the process, including diagnosing complex faults during incidents.
- Carry out servicing and replacement of assets such as pump motors, electrical circuitry components, contactors, overloads, slip‑ring assemblies, telemetry outstations, variable speed drives and motor control circuits.
- Support the local maintenance teams, carrying out planned and breakdown maintenance activities on electromechanical wastewater assets.
- Provide technical advice to the wider team, refer to up‑to‑date technical knowledge, and give training or support to technical trainees if required.
- Undertake fault diagnostics and resolve issues promptly.
- Interpret and update electrical drawings.
Qualifications
- Time‑served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical/electrical systems, or NVQ or C&G Level 3 in electrical engineering.
- Knowledge of the 18th Edition of the National Electrical Code (preferred; training can be given).
- A problem‑solving mindset, able to identify potential issues, implement solutions, and escalation when required.
- Excellent communication skills, providing technical expertise to internal and external staff and contractors.
- Resilience and adaptability to pressure, able to work in constantly changing environments.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision, working independently and adhering to design and safety standards.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry.
- Team player, respectful of others, providing helpful feedback and supporting development of colleagues.
- Full UK driving licence.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary up to £42,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
