Job summary

Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Electrical technician to perform maintenance ensuring safe operation of building plant and electrical services. You will carry out repairs across complex equipment, liaise daily with the Management team and Estates staff, and support emergency out-of-hours work as part of a rota.

You will interact with staff, patients and contractors, explain problems and propose solutions while understanding the impact on service delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience with maintenance of mechanical and electrical engineering services.
• Ability to communicate with management, estates staff, patients and contractors.
• Wamiliarity with reporting issues and contributing to service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance tasks to ensure safe, continuous operation of plant and services.
• Undertake maintenance and repair across complex plant and equipment.
• Liaise with management and Estates team to coordinate duties and share knowledge.
• Provide on-call support for emergencies across electrical, mechanical and plumbing trades.
• Complete key actions from Electrical Installation Condition Reports.

Job description

• The post holder will carry out necessary maintenance tasks to ensure the safe and continuous operation of mechanical and electrical engineering services and the building plant located in the Trust.
• The post holder will undertake specific maintenance tasks and will carry out maintenance and repair across a wide range of interconnected highly complex plant and equipment. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager.
• As an Electrical technician you will liaise with the management team on a daily basis in order to carry out work duties and report any issues. You will also liaise with all the other members of the Estates Department on a regular basis to assist each other and share knowledge.
• During your working duties you will have regular contact with all levels of staff, patients and contractors where you will be expected to explain the problems, offer solutions and be able to explain the impact of your work on their departments service delivery.

You will participate in an on - call rota system to provide a flexible out of hour's service throughout the night for all emergency jobs, covering all possibilities including building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing trades.

• Relevant AP duties (HTM 06-02 LV / HTM 06-03 HV)
• Assisting and supporting estate officers
• Mentoring assistants and those working towards a craftsperson's role
• Cover the supervisor role when required
• Cover estate officer basic duty's when off site
• Correct attitude and mindset setting an example to the rest of the team
• Problem solving complicated electrical functions leading to a resolution
• Have/Attain detailed site knowledge and understanding of the electrical plant and equipment.
• Work closely with the estate officers in key maintenance functions to achieve compliance
• Take responsibility for completing key actions from Electrical Installation Condition Reports
