Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the Area Operations Manager and Technical Supervisor by providing reactive and planned maintenance for building electrical systems. You will perform maintenance, fault finding, and repairs on LV systems, logging status in the CMMS.

You will ensure BS7671 compliance, diagnose faults, and participate in emergency call-outs, supporting cost-reduction efforts and handover of small projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must have completed an apprentice or equivalent formal training in electrical installation and maintenance.
  • Must hold a City and Guilds Level 3 technical certificate or equivalent in an electrical discipline.
  • Must hold a City and Guilds Level 3 certificate in BS 7671 (18th Edition); may be considered if obtained within 3 months of appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain LV electrical systems and perform PPM routines.
  • Repair and maintain electrical equipment and fixtures.
  • Deliver small projects and assist with handovers.
  • Ensure compliance with BS7671 wiring regulations.
  • Diagnose and repair faults.
  • Calibrate risk assessments for maintenance tasks.
  • Liaise with helpdesk for task responses.

Job description

The role: Electrical Engineer

The purpose of the Electrical Engineer is to support the Area Operations Manager (AOM) and Technical Supervisor by providing reactive and planned preventative maintenance for building engineering systems and services.

Perform maintenance, fault finding, and repair low voltage (LV) electrical systems as directed and log status on the CMMS.

Key responsibilities are as follows:
  • Maintain low voltage (LV) electrical systems and perform PPM routines.
  • Repair and maintain electrical equipment and fixtures.
  • Deliver small projects and assist with project handovers.
  • Ensure compliance with BS7671 wiring regulations.
  • Diagnose and repair faults.
  • Calibrate risk assessments for maintenance tasks.
  • Liaise with helpdesk for task responses.
  • Maintain site logbooks, compliance certification, and produce reports.
  • Undertake the Control of Works Authorised Person (AP) role and support identification of other relevant APs and Competent Persons (CPs) in cluster.
  • Participate in emergency call-out services and support cost reduction efforts.
  • Support team with any other needs as requested by Technical Supervisor and/or AOM.
Person Specification:
  • Perform skilled work requiring technical training (NVQ level 3 or equivalent).
  • Willing to undertake CBRE refresher training in;
  • Emergency Circuit Breaker and Fuse Theory
  • Emergency Lighting Testing and Light Fitting Replacement, including Safe Isolation.
  • Water Heater Testing, including Safe Isolation.
  • Fire Alarm Testing.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Must have completed an apprentice or equivalent formal training in electrical installation and maintenance, including sufficient practical experience to be assessed as electrically competent.
  • Must hold a City and Guilds Level 3 technical certificate or equivalent in an electrical discipline.
  • Must hold a City and Guilds Level 3 certificate in the requirements for electrical installations BS 7671 (18th Edition). Note: In exceptional cases, an applicant without this qualification may still be considered, provided the qualification is obtained within 3 months from date of appointment.
