Job Summary

EQUANS is looking for an Electrical Shift Engineer to join the team in Salford on the Media City contract. The role is permanent full‑time and operates on a shift pattern of 4‑on, 4‑off – four 12‑hour shifts (07:00‑19:00) followed by four days off. The main responsibilities are all‑round engineering support to maintain the building infrastructure and to keep the site running at 100 % uptime, meeting Health & Safety and building code requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the coordination point for day‑to‑day site activities between the FM management team, shift engineer and subcontractors.
  • Ensure all activities allocated to the shift are conducted with a professional, conscientious attitude, maintaining quality of work and Health & Safety standards.
  • Provide excellent response to plant failures, complete assigned work efficiently and handle any abnormal operating conditions or housekeeping issues.
  • Run operations while on duty, including the management of the shift engineer during night shifts and subcontractors.
  • Report any engineering difficulties to the Engineering Supervisor / Manager and complete daily record‑keeping and escalation procedures.
  • Participate in out‑of‑hours call‑out and overtime for onsite work and site cover.
  • Read, write, review and carry out risk assessments and method statements, including point‑of‑work risk assessment.
  • Manage subcontractors and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Carry out PPM tasks and maintain relevant documentation.
  • Make reactive call‑outs on critical systems.
  • Complete compliance testing and minor works to JSP375 standard.
  • Perform minor installation works and testing.
  • Communicate company vision and objectives clearly, ensuring implementation of new procedures.
  • Promote and drive company values and keep up to date with industry developments, driving innovation and effective change.
Qualifications & Experience
  • City & Guilds training.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Good experience of electrical maintenance and repairs.
  • Previous AP / AE experience and qualifications preferred but not essential.
