Overview
Electrical Project Manager - We are delivering a high-specification commercial office development and are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager on a freelance basis. This project involves managing the full electrical package - from design coordination through to installation, testing, and final handover - on a high-end CAT A/CAT B fit-out within a complex, multi-disciplinary environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in delivering premium commercial office schemes and an exceptional eye for quality and detail.
Responsibilities
- Project Management of the full electrical scope from pre-construction to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards
- Coordinate and manage subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour to ensure seamless delivery and integration of all electrical systems
- Interpret and review electrical design drawings and specifications, flagging issues and driving solutions in collaboration with consultants and design teams
- Liaise effectively with the main contractor, client representatives, consultants, and other trade managers to ensure alignment across the programme
- Drive project milestones, track progress, and proactively manage programme risks and changes
- Manage procurement of materials and long-lead items, ensuring timely delivery and cost control
- Lead on health & safety compliance, ensuring all site activities adhere to RAMS, PPE requirements, and CDM regulations
- Oversee testing, commissioning, and witnessing activities, ensuring full compliance with project and regulatory standards
- Ensure quality assurance through inspections, snagging, and defect resolution processes
- Maintain all project records, including programme updates, financial tracking, progress reports, and H&S documentation
- Chair and attend project meetings, providing clear updates and ensuring key deliverables are achieved
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in an Electrical Project Manager role or similar, ideally on high-end commercial office developments
- Proven track record managing full M&E coordination or standalone electrical packages on complex commercial fit-outs
- Strong technical understanding of electrical systems including lighting, small power, fire alarm, containment, and BMS interfaces
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to drive performance on site
- Valid ECS Gold Card
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification
- Full UK Driving Licence
