Electrical Project Engineer - Environment

Location : Staffordshire (regional travel required)

Purpose of the Role

An opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Project Engineer to join our Environment team in the Staffordshire region, working on our South Staffs Water Framework.

You will play a key role in the delivery of water and wastewater schemes, supporting the design, coordination, and implementation of electrical and ICA systems across multiple projects. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you'll help ensure schemes are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver water and wastewater M&E projects including pumping stations, dosing systems, chlorination plants and associated infrastructure.
  • Manage the electrical engineering aspects of projects from inception to completion, utilising internal and site-based resources.
  • Coordinate early site investigations with clients, designers and project teams.
  • Prepare and review Health & Safety documentation including risk assessments, method statements and project management plans.
  • Support procurement activities, negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Attend and lead factory and site testing, commissioning and client training.
  • Participate in internal and client design reviews and hazard studies to develop robust engineering solutions.
  • Contribute to project budgets, cost-to-complete reviews and commercial assessments.
  • Liaise with Site Managers and construction teams to ensure delivery to programme, quality and budget.
  • Develop and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) throughout project stages.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement while maintaining compliance with current standards.
  • Support the completion of contract documentation including "as-built" drawings, commissioning manuals and O&M manuals.
  • Promote a proactive approach to Health, Safety and Environmental performance.
About You

You will be a motivated and technically capable Electrical Project Engineer with strong problem-solving and communication skills, experienced in delivering water or similar infrastructure projects.

Essential
  • Industry-applicable Electrical ONC / HNC / B.Eng or NVQ equivalent.
  • Proven experience within the water industry or a similar regulated sector.
  • Knowledge of electrical and ICA systems used in water and wastewater treatment.
  • Strong commercial and contractual awareness.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Project.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental best practice.
  • Organised and methodical approach with a strong attention to detail.
Desirable
  • Experience with ATEX and hazardous area installations.
  • Knowledge of chemical dosing systems.
  • Experience leading and managing technical functions or subcontractors.
