Job summary

A premier recruitment agency is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to manage the delivery of electrical services and data centre projects. Job description
Overview

Electrical Project Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of electrical building services and data centre projects, covering power, lighting, and connectivity across essential and non-essential systems. The role combines technical engineering and project management to survey, design/size, specify, quote, and deliver works through installation, testing, commissioning, and handover, ensuring full compliance with relevant standards and client requirements. The postholder also provides formal electrical sign-off where required and supports energy efficiency and net-zero initiatives across the portfolio.

Project Management & Leadership
  • Own end-to-end delivery of electrical building services and data centre projects.
  • Lead site teams and subcontractors to meet safety, quality, and programme requirements.
  • Build and manage programmes, lookaheads, resources, and shutdown/out-of-hours activities.
  • Coordinate client/PC/FM/IT stakeholders and manage interfaces in live environments.
  • Run project controls: progress reporting, risks/issues, RFIs, and document control.
  • Resolve delivery and technical problems quickly, escalating where required.
  • Drive right-first-time quality, snag closure, and compliance to standards.
  • Maintain commercial control: cost tracking, variations, and supporting records.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and consistent standards across the delivery team.
Key Deliverables
  • Survey, engineer, size, and produce clear scopes, proposals, and quotations for power, lighting, and connectivity works.
  • Approved programme and two-week lookahead maintained, with resources aligned to key milestones.
  • Procurement plan in place; materials/equipment ordered, tracked, and delivered to suit programme.
  • Safe delivery on site with RAMS/permits/safe isolations implemented and recorded.
  • Installation delivered to spec with inspections completed, snag lists raised, and close-out evidence captured.
  • Testing, commissioning, and certification completed (BS 7671 as applicable), with formal electrical sign-off where authorised.
  • Client handover pack issued on time: O&Ms, as-fitted/redlines, test results, warranties, and asset data.
  • Commercial records maintained: progress measures, cost tracking, and fully substantiated variations/changes.
  • Sustainability outcomes delivered where in scope (e.g., LED/controls upgrades, energy-efficiency measures, renewable integration support).
Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Hands-on experience with UPS systems (AC/DC), battery installations, LV/ELV power systems, and general electrical infrastructure
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
