Job description

We're partnering with a leading UK engineering and technology organisation that is investing heavily in next-generation electrical power and propulsion systems for advanced aerospace applications.

As part of a growing technology development team, you'll play a key role in the research, design, modelling, validation and demonstration of innovative electrical power architectures ranging from low kW through to multi-MW platforms. This is a rare opportunity to work on cutting‑edge programmes that will influence the future of more‑electric and hybrid‑electric aerospace systems.

The Opportunity

As an Electrical Systems Engineer, you will support the development of advanced electrical power generation and distribution technologies, contributing to the definition of future system architectures and technology strategies.

Working within highly collaborative multidisciplinary teams, you will be involved in concept development, system modelling, requirements definition, technology demonstration and technical leadership activities across complex engineering programmes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the definition and development of electrical power system concepts and architectures.
  • Produce technical requirements, specifications and performance criteria for new electrical systems and products.
  • Support concept studies, modelling, simulation and demonstrator programmes.
  • Lead technical investigations and solve complex engineering challenges through structured analysis and engineering judgement.
  • Drive project definition activities including requirements capture, proposal development, stakeholder engagement and funding support.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams, suppliers, research organisations and technology partners.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers across the business.
  • Contribute to engineering standards, best practice initiatives and knowledge‑sharing activities.
  • Support the development of future electrical technology roadmaps and supply chain capability.
About You

We are keen to speak with professionals who have experience in complex electrical systems, ideally within aerospace, defence, power electronics, transport, marine, energy, or other highly regulated engineering environments.

  • Degree‑qualified Engineer (BEng, MEng or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience developing electrical power systems and subsystems.
  • Strong background in producing technical specifications, requirements and engineering documentation.
  • Understanding of power generation, power distribution and power conversion technologies.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Ability to analyse and solve complex technical problems.
Highly Desirable
  • Knowledge of AC-DC, DC-DC and AC-AC power conversion systems.
  • Experience with electrical machines and power distribution networks.
  • Understanding of system architecture studies, electrical load analysis and fault analysis activities.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering methodologies and lifecycle processes.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Familiarity with safety and reliability assessment techniques such as FHA, FMEA, DFMEA or HAZOP.
What's On Offer
  • Opportunity to work on industry‑leading aerospace technology programmes.
  • Hybrid working arrangement.
  • Excellent career development and progression opportunities.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Exposure to world‑class engineering projects with long‑term strategic investment.
  • Collaborative and inclusive engineering culture focused on innovation and technical excellence.
