Electrical Operations Manager – Peterborough

Position: Electrical Operations Manager

  • Salary: £50,000 per annum
  • Location: Peterborough (within 30 minutes’ travel; additional travel fully expensed)
Overview

The Company are seeking an experienced Electrical Operations Manager to oversee their electrical division, lead a team of skilled engineers, and ensure the highest standards of safety, service delivery, and technical compliance across their contracts.

The company are a trusted provider of compliance and safety services, ensuring their clients' properties meet all current legislation. They proudly maintain, service, and repair over 70,000 housing association and local authority homes across the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion a strong Health & Safety culture, ensuring adherence to all policies and supporting incident, accident, and near‑miss reporting in partnership with our H&S Manager.
  • Promote safe driving standards, review daily fleet reports, and oversee company vehicle use and upkeep.
  • Attend client meetings, support mobilisation of new contracts, and strengthen relationships with existing customers.
  • >Manage electrical projects from planning to completion, providing stakeholders with updates, progress reporting, and issue resolution.
  • Lead and support engineering teams, overseeing onsite activity, first‑time fix rates, productivity, and Simpro usage.
  • Approve weekly timesheets for PAYE, subcontractor, and agency engineers, verifying site attendance via tracking systems.
  • Manage team absence, holidays, and long‑term sickness in line with company policy.
  • Provide first‑line IT, software, and technical support to field engineers.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and carry out H&S, vehicle, and technical audits, arranging additional training where required.
  • Oversee stock control, materials distribution, and regular stock checks.
  • Respond to client concerns, identifying and implementing proactive improvements.
  • Participate in the Out‑of‑Hours Escalation Rota and arrange team cover when needed.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for MCS, ensuring consistently high standards of service delivery.
  • Lead recruitment and onboarding for your division, ensuring compliance with MCS processes.
  • Produce weekly forecasts and ensure operational and GP targets are achieved.
  • Conduct investigations, disciplinaries, and performance management when required.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by the Line Manager or CEO.
What We’re Looking For
  • A recognised Health & Safety qualification (e.g., SMSTS)
  • Proven experience managing engineers and coordinating site operations
  • City & Guilds Level 2 & 3 Electrical Installations
  • Up‑to‑date knowledge of BS7671 (18th Edition desirable)
  • Strong understanding of construction industry standards and safe working practices
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Strong IT skills and confidence using software systems
