Overview

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Electrical / Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both electrical and mechanical maintenance, with experience or a solid understanding of foundry equipment and processes. This is a days-based role within a fast-paced, heavy industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on plant machinery and foundry equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and ensure minimal downtime by providing effective breakdown support.
  • Maintain, repair, and improve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and process improvements.
  • Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to identify root causes and implement lasting solutions.
  • Ensure all work complies with health & safety standards and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (HNC/HND preferred).
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing, foundry, or heavy industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, fault finding, and control circuits.
  • Competent in mechanical fitting, welding, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Experience with foundry equipment such as furnaces, moulding lines, conveyors, and dust extraction systems (advantageous).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, hands-on approach.
