Operations Manager – Mechanical & Electrical Installation
Purpose of the job: £70,000 – £80,000 plus car allowance or company car.
As a member of the Industrial Services (IS) management team, you will lead and manage IS delivery and work winning for a nominated location/site or framework. You are responsible for executing the IS delivery strategy, ensuring safe, secure, timely, cost‑effective and high‑quality project delivery that meets both the client’s and Nuvia’s business objectives.

Reports to: Industrial Services Director.
Key Accountabilities
- Report monthly on location/site or framework performance including safety, budget and time.
- Review and approve tendering proposals or contract changes aligned to delegated authority, ensuring appropriate governance as per Nuvia procedures CP0402, CP0401A and CP0905.
- Coordinate tendering proposals or contract changes and drive work winning for the located site or framework.
- Ensure projects comply with the Nuvia Project Management Orchestra (PMO) and Quality Management System (QMS).
- Coordinate resources, including subcontractors, to meet Nuvia commitments and client satisfaction.
- Develop and coach all team members under your control.
- Identify and manage all change associated with any IS project.
- Govern delivery of all IS projects at the nominated location/site or framework.
- Ensure compliance with Nuvia standards and procedures for Safety, Health, Environment, Quality (SHEQ) and Construction.
- Capture SHEQ incidents and good practice via the Nuvia UNOR systems and associated client system.
- Ensure work is carried out safely, in compliance with legislation and company procedures.
- Ensure work is executed to required quality standards and design intent.
- Engage with the Director – Industrial Services and finance team to provide accurate financial forecasts.
- Lead the IS location/site or framework at the IS monthly management meeting, presenting operational updates and prospects.
- Manage all personnel involved in the delivery of IS scope, including project managers, construction managers, site managers, commercial managers, quantity surveyors, planners, supervisors, engineers, operatives and subcontractors.
- Communicate effectively to all parties and ensure professional, clear communication internally and with clients, subcontractors and regulators.
- Maintain the Nuvia-client relationship for the location/site or framework.
- Conduct Personal Development Reviews (PDR) with direct reports and update development plans throughout the year.
- Set objectives that align with the IS strategy.
- Ensure all personnel who work at the location/site or framework are Suitable Qualified or Experienced (SQEP).
- Engage with relevant unions and manage industrial relations at locations/sites.
- Collaborate with commercial and finance teams to ensure timely invoicing and payments.
Qualifications
- Level 6 qualification or equivalent in an engineering or related field.
- Project management related qualification.
- Minimum 5 years of experience within a highly regulated multi‑discipline environment.
- Strong experience in work winning and commercial contract oversight.
- Knowledge of Construction, Design and Management (CDM) Regulations and duty‑holder responsibilities.
- Excellent knowledge of contract models commonly used in the nuclear industry (NEC, FIDIC, T&M, etc.).
- Proven track record of delivering complex construction projects with strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Good understanding of business profit and loss centres and financial reporting.
- Experience managing sub‑contractors and procurement.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Leadership/people‑management skills and stakeholder management.
Desirable
- Chartered status in a relevant discipline.
- Level 6 NVQ in Construction Management with black CSCS managers card or equivalent.
- Member of a relevant professional institution (APM, CIOB, ICE, IStructE, IMechE, etc.).
- Higher academic qualifications with business, construction and/or engineering focus.
