Maintenance Technician – Electrical

Midlands Region | Permanent | Hands‑On Maintenance Role

Are you an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician looking for a varied and rewarding role where every day is different? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward‑thinking utilities business, maintaining critical wastewater recycling assets across a diverse range of sites.

The Role

As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, you’ll play a key part in keeping wastewater treatment and recycling assets running safely and efficiently. You’ll be responsible for both planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of equipment – from motors, drives, and pumps to instrumentation and process control systems. You’ll diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and support system improvements across multiple sites – from large operational facilities to smaller rural sites. You’ll be provided with a company vehicle, laptop, phone, and all necessary PPE to help you get the job done safely and effectively.

⚙️ What You’ll Be Doing
  • Maintain and repair electrical motor drive systems, inverters, and basic motor starting equipment
  • Work with process control loops, chemical dosing, and associated instrumentation
  • Diagnose and repair PLC‑based systems (ladder logic, SCADA, control systems)
  • Carry out safe, efficient planned and reactive maintenance
  • Produce reports and feedback on maintenance activities
  • Support and train others as required
  • Take part in a 24/7 standby rota (with additional allowance)
What You’ll Bring
  • A completed apprenticeship and NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Maintenance
  • Strong experience maintaining and repairing industrial electrical equipment
  • Knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, and process control systems
  • Confident diagnosing faults and resolving issues under pressure
  • A proactive, safety‑focused mindset and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • A full UK driving licence
Desirable Skills
  • 18th Edition qualification
  • Knowledge of pumps, valves, PRVs, and wastewater treatment processes
  • Experience working with both electrical and mechanical equipment (training provided if single‑skilled)
