Job summary

A family-run food production business in Northampton is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer. In this role, you will ensure the efficient and safe operation of production equipment while diagnosing and repairing electrical faults. The ideal candidate will have proven electrical maintenance experience within manufacturing and relevant qualifications. The position offers weekdays from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some flexibility for overtime.

Overview

Electrical Maintenance Engineer - Food Production (Onsite)

Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (some flexibility for overtime as and when required).

Our client is a family-run food production business with a fabulous reputation and incredible team. Since 2000, the company has expanded from one site to four, supplying premium bacon, gammon joints, and hams to high-end retailers, food establishments, and individual customers nationwide with next-day delivery.

Role Overview

We are looking for a proactive and skilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our maintenance team. You will play a key role in ensuring our production equipment runs efficiently, safely, and with minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults across production machinery and systems.
  • Perform reactive and planned maintenance to reduce downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and inspections.
  • Support the development and execution of preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Collaborate with the team and coordinate with external contractors.
  • Install and test new components and systems.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns and unplanned repairs.
  • Conduct annual servicing and inspections.
  • Manage inventory of tools, parts, and supplies.
  • Supervise contractors when required.
  • Ensure compliance with hygiene standards and HACCP protocols.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven experience in electrical maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
  • Recognised electrical qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent).
  • Comfortable working in cold environments with appropriate PPE.
