Job summary

A leading FMCG food manufacturer in Manchester is seeking a Multi Skilled Engineer (Electrical Bias). This permanent, full-time role offers a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern and extensive opportunities for development in a supportive culture. Key responsibilities include maintaining engineering systems, resolving breakdowns efficiently and participating in Continuous Improvement initiatives. Experience in fast-paced FMCG manufacturing and appropriate engineering qualifications are essential. The role includes extensive overtime possibilities and is a perfect opportunity for growth.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a fast-paced FMCG Manufacturing environment required.
  • Ability to quickly diagnose faults and take corrective action.
  • Assist in training fellow maintenance engineers and operator-technicians.

  • Maintain engineering requirements of the site process systems.
  • Resolve issues effectively during breakdown conditions.
  • Participate actively in Continuous Improvement initiatives.

Job description

Scantec are working in partnership with a fantastic FMCG Food Manufacturer in North Manchester. We're seeking a Multi Skilled Engineer (Elec Bias).

Shifts: 4 on, 4 off pattern. 7-7, 2x days, 2x nights.

This company has never been busier and has undergone huge investment of late with more planned for 2025. They have a fantastic culture with a friendly, supportive and development‑focused environment.

Lots of overtime is currently available on your scheduled 4 off. Development for CI and Engineering courses is readily available so it's a great time to join!

Responsibilities
  • Continuous development of knowledge and familiarity with the engineering requirements of the site process systems and machinery
  • Work as an active part of a skilled cross‑functional planned maintenance team
  • Ensure correct Health & Safety, Food Safety and Hygiene standards are adhered to at all times
  • Ensure a fast and effective response especially under breakdown conditions
  • Quickly diagnose faults and take corrective action
  • Assist and support mechanical engineers with their duties
  • Actively participate in a Continuous Improvement culture throughout the site, constantly identifying opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce waste
  • Assist in the training of fellow maintenance engineers, operator‑technicians and others where necessary
  • Ensure planned maintenance work is completed to strict schedules, and constantly look for improvements that will ensure reliability of equipment is improved
  • Ensure good working practices are adhered to throughout
  • Work on various projects including installation and modifications to plant and equipment
Qualifications
  • Ideally an experienced Multi Skilled Engineer with appropriate engineering qualifications
  • Experience within a fast‑paced FMCG Manufacturing environment is essential
  • 17th / 18th edition is an advantage as full development and training can be provided
